Some of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

For Novi Real Estate, sustainability is about taking responsibility for people and the environment through smart solutions with a focus on long-term and efficient resource usage. We strive to work in a way that is good for both society and our customers’ businesses – as well as our tenants. Sustainability is always part of the conversation. The people who live and work in the properties we manage have the opportunity to take responsibility and make a difference together with us.

In our sustainability efforts we have chosen to prioritize three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and below you will find a list of examples outlining what we intend to do to achieve them. The overarching goals of our sustainability efforts are (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (8) Decent Work and Economic Growth and (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Goal 7

Affordable and clean energy

  • 20% lower energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 2022 (comparative year 2017)
  • 80% of the properties we manage will be environmentally-certified by 2022 at the latest
  • 40 MSEK is invested annually in sustainability efforts
  • A 48-tonne reduction in CO2 emissions each year thanks to waste collection agreements with Office Recycling
  • Money is dedicated annually to charities that work in this area

Goal 8

Decent work and economic growth

  • Safe, secure and inclusive workplaces
  • Opportunities for employees to combine work and family as well as activities that promote health and well-being
  • Money is dedicated on an annual basis to charities that work in this field

Goal 11

Sustainable cities and communities

  • Make all rental apartments available to rent on the municipal housing register
  • Make a subset of rental apartments available to young people, particularly below the age of 25
  • Establish pop-up parks in Stockholm in collaboration with other property owners
  • All tenants should be given the opportunity to purchase green electricity
  • All tenants should be given the opportunity to sign an eco-friendly/sustainable cleaning contract with a cleaning contractor that uses environmentally-friendly cleaning products. With collaboration and planning, we can use the same contractor to clean the stairwells that we use to clean the apartments and premises, which will entail fewer trips to and from the property.
  • A waste collection contract with Office Recycling, where the waste disposal area in the basement is freed up and can be used for bicycles, for example.
  • Annual sustainability training for all employees
  • Sustainability policy for business trips
  • Hold events based on the theme of sustainability for tenants
